Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Wilberforce Offroad Ltd (trading as Dream Drives), based in Christchurch, New Zealand, handles personal information when you use our website and services.
1. Who we are
Dream Drives is operated by Wilberforce Offroad Ltd. For privacy enquiries, contact us at [email protected].
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information we collect through our website (including enquiry and booking flows), by phone, email, or in person, and when we deliver vehicle hire and related services. We comply with the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand).
3. Information we may collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details — for example name, email address, phone number, and postal or pick-up details needed for a booking or enquiry.
- Booking and hire information — dates, locations, vehicle choice, drivers named on the rental, and related correspondence.
- Licence and eligibility — information required to verify that drivers hold a valid licence and meet hire requirements.
- Payment information — card payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our own servers; Stripe handles card data according to its terms and security standards.
- Website and technical data — such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from technical data, plus information from cookies and similar technologies (see below).
- Marketing preferences — where you have agreed to receive marketing from us, we hold the details needed to send those messages and honour unsubscribe requests.
4. How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- Provide quotes, confirm bookings, and deliver vehicle hire services.
- Communicate with you about your booking, safety, or service updates.
- Process payments and recover amounts owing (for example damage, fines, or fees permitted under our terms).
- Meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
- Improve our website and understand how visitors use it (including aggregated analytics).
- Send marketing communications where you have opted in, using our own systems — you can opt out at any time.
5. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand site traffic and usage in aggregate. We configure tracking to be privacy-conscious — for example we do not intentionally send personal identifiers such as email addresses, phone numbers, or full message content to analytics tools. You can control cookies through your browser settings and use industry opt-out tools where available.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies that are essential for security and functionality, and where applicable for analytics or preferences. You can block or delete cookies through your browser; some features of the site may not work as intended if you do.
7. Sharing personal information
We may share information with:
- Service providers — for example payment processing (Stripe), hosting, email delivery, and IT providers who help us run our business, only as needed for those purposes.
- Professional advisers and authorities — where required or permitted by law, including insurers, debt recovery, or law enforcement.
Where we use providers outside New Zealand, we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure appropriate safeguards, in line with the Privacy Act 2020.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, or disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; we encourage you to use strong passwords and protect your devices.
9. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, tax, and insurance requirements, and then securely delete or anonymise it where appropriate.
10. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to access your personal information and request correction of inaccurate information. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
